Introducing the new Born Free Foundation blog!

Dear Friends,
Welcome to the Born Free Foundation’s new blog on Wildlife Direct!
Many of the projects on Wildlife Direct focus on just one very deserving species. However, as Born Free works internationally with many different species to stop individual wild animal suffering and protect threatened species in the wild, we wanted to reflect this diversity and incorporate several of the projects we work with into this blog.
Having travelled into the field and seen the difficult situations which in-situ projects have to deal with on a day to day basis compels the Born Free Foundation to continue working with front-line projects throughout the world. Wildlife Direct allows these frontline fieldworkers to enlighten the general public on the trials and tribulations of their work striving to protect wildlife and the environment it inhabits producing a unique and amazing resource for readers.

Therefore, in coming months, you will hear from several field workers from projects which Born Free works with including, among others:
Last Great Ape Organisation - undertakes amazing work in Cameroon assisting the authorities to capture and prosecute dealers in endangered wildlife species and their products.
Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Project – working to protect the rarest canid which is threatened by disease and habitat loss.
Lilongwe Wildlife Centre - Situated in the heart of Malawi’s capital city, the Lilongwe Wildlife Centre is a new and exciting ‘People and Wildlife’ wild animal rescue, rehabilitation and education facility.
Sea Sense - a Tanzanian charity working to protect turtles and dugongs.
We will also be reporting on the creation of Born Free’s Wildlife Rescue, Conservation and Education Centre in Ethiopia which, in conjunction with the Wildlife Department, aims to provide a solution for wildlife rescued from the pet trade, zoos and other unfortunate situations as well as animals confiscated by local authorities.
Each project will be introducing themselves in coming weeks so please keep checking back!!!
Born Free is very proud to be working with these projects and I very much hope you enjoy reading about and supporting the vital work that they undertake to protect species and habitats across the world in order to keep wildlife in the wild! Time is literally running out for many of the animals we are working to protect and with your assistance we can ensure that they get the help they need now and in future.
